Richard is currently Director of Primary School Improvement at Westcountry Schools Trust. From 2011-2020 Richard worked as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors conducting routine and emergency inspections across the south west. In 2018 he was appointed as the only cross-remit Senior HMI in Ofsted. He was responsible for FES and ITT in the South West but also worked across the EY, primary and secondary school range. Prior to joining Ofsted, Richard was a headteacher for 12 years. During that period he also worked as an additional inspector, school improvement partner, a Local Leader of Education and Research Associate for NCSL.
