The Regional School’s Commissioning Team South West (RSC SW) and Regional Delivery Division of the DfE South West (RDD South West) are supporting Maths Teaching by joining in with ‘Thank a Teacher of Maths’ on the perfect day - Friday 28th June.
Bobby Seagull is also linking his Radio 4 Maths Challenge to this on 28th June.
We hope to have tweets and even videos from their teams on the day. They can see how it supports the Maths Hubs and are exploring how it may fit in with the recruitment and retention strategy for next year.
It would be great if the Teaching School Network could also support this.
What it is ...
The Perfect Day for Early Years, Primary, Secondary and FE Teacher of Mathematics around the UK to celebrate the amazing job they do day in-day out inspiring the next generation and creating a #YesUCan attitude to maths in the UK.
A great day to send a short message thanking a teacher of mathematics who has inspired you/your colleagues and/or you have worked with. It could be:
+ A teacher who taught you at school and had a huge impact on you
+ A teacher who inspires pupils day in day out
+ A teacher who supports other colleagues
+ A teacher who has been a teacher of maths for more years than they care to remember and it's about time their contribution was acknowledged by the profession
+ Any other reason!!
What it's not ...
+ A competition for the best teacher, department, blogger, resource, book, website, etc.
It's simply a day to share the goodness, champion the work of Teachers of Mathematics across the UK and thank the thousands of unsung heroes in schools and colleges.
