Meta Memory CPD Sessions

on .

meta memory cpdWe are delighted to announce that as part of the Area Wide Funding GCSE support programme for Spring/Summer Term '22, Thinking Schools Academies Trust in partnership with the Plymouth Place Based Plan, will be delivering a programme of 'Meta-Memory' CPD sessions for all secondary teachers, subject leads and T&L leads across the city. High quality pre-recorded sessions will come online from 29th April via the TSAT website (link to follow) so that colleagues can watch asynchronously with their subject teams to help inform planning for the final few weeks of term before GCSE examinations start.
The first two sessions, Meta Memory Modules 1 & 2 will be for all secondary teachers regardless of specialism and provide an explanation of which teaching strategies make the most of long term memory and the science behind retrieval.

The subsequent 3 sessions will have a focus specifically on Maths, English and Science lessons with subject specific, evidence informed masterclasses for teachers and leaders of those core subjects on how to optimise the last few weeks of learning before students start their GCSE examinations.

Implementing Disciplinary Literacy

on .

Secondary LiteracyPlymouth's Secondary Literacy Leads have been working hard in recent months to finalise their implementation plans for their chosen strategy to embed the recommendations of the latest EEF guidance on Disciplinary Literacy. We are delighted that colleagues are now able to showcase their own professional learning via a series of blogs which we will feature on the Kingsbridge Research School site in coming weeks. We have also set up an area on the portal where we will start to build a collection of exemplar plans for colleagues in Plymouth and across the region to access.

Our first guest blog is written by Rebecca Edwards, Deputy Head at Devonport High School for Boys. Read it Here

Transition Improvement Leads

on .

TransitionAs part of the Place Based School Improvement Project, Plymouth City Council (PCC) is looking to commission two Transition Improvement Leads to carry out a project to improve the experience of children as they transition from one phase of education to another.  The Council is seeking partner organisations to provide two project leads to deliver the project across the city.

One lead will have a Primary focus and the other will be Secondary; although we would also be interested in considering responses from those with experience in Alternative Provision transitions processes.

Deadline for submissions:  12 pm, Friday February 11th, 2022.

Please see the Request for Quotation document for further details and contact Janet Greaves-Stocker and/or Chrysta Garnett if you require any further information.
