We are delighted to announce that as part of the Area Wide Funding GCSE support programme for Spring/Summer Term '22, Thinking Schools Academies Trust in partnership with the Plymouth Place Based Plan, will be delivering a programme of 'Meta-Memory' CPD sessions for all secondary teachers, subject leads and T&L leads across the city. High quality pre-recorded sessions will come online from 29th April via the TSAT website (link to follow) so that colleagues can watch asynchronously with their subject teams to help inform planning for the final few weeks of term before GCSE examinations start. The first two sessions, Meta Memory Modules 1 & 2 will be for all secondary teachers regardless of specialism and provide an explanation of which teaching strategies make the most of long term memory and the science behind retrieval.
The subsequent 3 sessions will have a focus specifically on Maths, English and Science lessons with subject specific, evidence informed masterclasses for teachers and leaders of those core subjects on how to optimise the last few weeks of learning before students start their GCSE examinations.
