Computer Science is more likely to be taught by a non-specialist teacher than almost any other subject, with 75% of teachers not having a relevant specialist qualification. With teacher subject knowledge and confidence so key to the quality of education a young person receives, this is clearly an area with which many schools and teachers need support. The newly established National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) — funded and supported by the Department for Education is offering bursaries available to schools and teachers for the GCSE Computer Science Accelerator programme.
